Why Choose Rockford Fosgate P300X2 2-Channel Amplifier?

Can Be Run in Stereo/mono Mode Simultaneously

The P300X2 is a solid choice if you're looking to drive a pair of coaxial speakers, component speakers, or a single subwoofer. The amplifier can also be run in stereo/mono mode simultaneously when using passive crossovers (not supplied) on all speakers. With proven PUNCH technology, the P300X2 delivers real Rockford Fosgate power from a small design and is flexible to accommodate any moderately sized system.

Filling Your Ride With Clean Music

Rockford Fosgate's Punch P300X2 amplifier sends 100 watts RMS per channel to your speakers, filling your ride with clean music. You can use the high-pass filter to keep the low bass out of your speakers so they perform more efficiently. You can also switch this versatile amp into mono mode to drive a subwoofer with up to 300 watts RMS, then use the built-in low-pass filter to send the correct bass frequencies to your sub. The Punch EQ2 features bass and treble boosts, in case you want to add a little boom or sizzle back into the mix.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • • Why does the amplifier keep going into protection mode?
Protection can be triggered by overheating, low impedance, a shorted speaker wire, or insufficient power and grounding. Check all connections, speaker impedance, ventilation, and the power cable before reconnecting the system.
  • • Why does the amplifier shut off when I turn up the volume?
This can happen when the electrical system cannot supply enough current or the amplifier sees an unstable load. Check the battery, charging system, ground connection, and speaker impedance before increasing the gain.
  • • Why is there no sound even though the amplifier powers on?
Verify the RCA or input connections, source output, speaker wiring, and gain settings. Also check that the speakers are connected to the correct outputs and that no mute, balance, or fade setting is preventing audio.
  • • Why does the amplifier get extremely hot?
Some heat is normal during operation, but excessive temperature can indicate poor ventilation, an overly low speaker load, or sustained high output. Mount it in a well-ventilated location and verify the connected load.
  • • Why do I hear a whining noise through the speakers?
A high-pitched noise that changes with engine speed is often related to grounding or electrical interference. Check the amplifier ground, RCA routing, and power wiring, keeping signal cables separated from power cables.
  • • Why does the sound distort when I increase the gain?
Gain is intended to match the amplifier to the source, not simply increase volume. Excessive gain can cause clipping and distortion, so reduce the setting and make sure the source signal remains clean.
  • • Can I use it to power two speakers and a subwoofer?
It is a two-channel amplifier, so the appropriate configuration depends on the speakers, subwoofer impedance, and desired wiring arrangement. Verify the final load is within the amplifier's specifications before connecting multiple speakers.
  • • Why is one channel louder than the other?
Check the amplifier's gain controls, RCA connections, speaker wiring, and the head unit's balance settings. Swapping the left and right input connections can also help determine whether the issue comes from the source or amplifier.
  • • Why does the amplifier work briefly and then turn off?
Intermittent shutdowns can indicate overheating, a loose power or ground connection, or protection caused by the speaker load. Inspect the terminals and wiring, improve ventilation, and confirm the connected impedance is appropriate.
  • • What size power and ground wiring should I use?
Choose wiring based on the amplifier's current requirements, installation length, and vehicle electrical system. Use properly sized power and ground cables with secure connections, and install the recommended fuse close to the battery.

  • I've got the p300x2 running two p1 10s in a sealed box under back seat in my 2004 GMC Sierra and this little thing pushes them just fine ,sounds great. I am a big fan of rockford fosgate since I was a teenager, now I'm 43 and still a fan

  • First off I'm a long time Fosgate Fanatic. This little amp will not disappoint. I have had several Rockford amps and this one carries on the tradition the old ones started. I'm using it to power my mids and highs in and the highs are crisp and my mids are tight and punchy. This amp added a new dimension to my car. The amp has a built in clipping sensor that flashes when it detects distortion which will help you accurately set your gain levels and save your equipment. A great amp in my opinion for the money which should give you years of pleasure.

  • Tried it before as an amp for speakers and I’m good with its performance, but now that I am using it on my Kicker sub, I am more even amazed of how good really it is. Set at bridged mode, my sub is sounding wonders with this RF amp and I loving every bit of lows from it.

  • The price and the Punch EQ are things that really helped made my decision easier. Sound is top notch and its clean. Made my Kicker speakers sound very much better. Its other controls also made it easier for me to tune the amp.
